Qualified Mechanic – Full-Time | $30–$40/hr + Overtime | Koo Wee Rup, VIC
Are you a skilled and reliable mechanic who takes pride in quality work and doing the job right the first time? G&E Automotive Services in Koo Wee Rup, VIC, is seeking a Qualified Automotive Technician to join our high-performing team in a full-time role, offering $30 to $40 per hour, plus overtime and excellent career development opportunities.
This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who wants to deliver consistently high standards without the pressure of a leadership title—while still playing a key role in mentoring apprentices and upholding workshop quality.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Vehicle Servicing, Diagnostics & Repairs
Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs to manufacturer specifications across various makes and models.
Accurately diagnose faults in engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
Troubleshoot issues through inspection and road testing
Complete all jobs to a high standard—safely, precisely, and cleanly
Apprentice Support & Mentorship
Support and guide two apprentice mechanics with daily tasks and learning moments
Model best practices in workmanship, time management, and safety
Provide clear, hands-on guidance without taking over—help them build confidence and capability
Maintain a positive, respectful tone on the floor and lead by example
Quality Control & Job Ownership
Double-check your work before sign-off—no shortcuts, no guesswork
Use checklists and quality procedures for every job
Take ownership of any comebacks or issues—investigate, fix, and learn
Communicate clearly and early if something’s not right
Workshop Standards & Team Contribution
Keep your bay clean, tidy, and safe at all times
Follow all OH&S procedures and use PPE correctly
Treat workshop tools, gear, and spaces with care and respect
Contribute to a team culture of professionalism, urgency, and helpfulness
Systems, Paperwork & Process Discipline
Complete job cards accurately, including times, parts, and notes
Follow workshop processes for inspections, test drives, and sign-offs
Communicate clearly with the 2IC and front desk team about technical findings
Speak up early when there are delays, unclear instructions, or unexpected issues
What We’re Looking For:
Fully qualified mechanic (Cert III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or higher)
Confident working across a wide range of vehicle makes and models
Strong diagnostic skills and attention to detail
Willingness to support and mentor apprentices
Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality workmanship
Excellent communication skills and a strong team player
Takes full ownership of work—no excuses, no shortcuts
