Job Description:

This job represents a combination of duties in the spray painting and panel beating areas at a lower than trade skill level. It involves removing and replacing vehicle body panels, panel sections, protector moulding and transfers. In preparation for painting, there are masking procedures, preparing spray painting materials and equipment, carrying out minor paint repairs, buffing and preparing for customer use.

Requirements:

To be awarded the qualification, the New Apprentice must attain a successful assessment of all 4 compulsory core competency standards, all of the listed stream competency standards, plus 3 elective standards from the automotive 'bank' or any endorsed Industry Training Package at the same AQF Level.

Duration:

This competency based program is likely to extend over a period of up to 12 months, depending on the achievement of the required competencies (this period may vary between States/Territories).
