Job Description:
This job involves applying diagnostic procedures to determine symptoms/faults, servicing and repair of steering systems, overhaul of steering system components, servicing and repair of suspension systems for light/heavy vehicles, plant, motor cycles, marine and outdoor power equipment. It will also involve the carrying out of welding, soldering, thermal cutting and heating procedures. Wheel alignment is completed where necessary.

Requirements:
To be awarded the qualification, the New Apprentice must attain a successful assessment of all 4 compulsory core competency standards, all of the listed stream competency standards, plus 3 elective standards from the automotive 'bank' or any endorsed Industry Training Package at the same AQF Level.
Duration:
This competency based program is likely to extend over a period of up to 12 months, depending on the achievement of the required competencies (this period may vary between States/Territories).
