Job Description:

Natural Gas fuel is used on cars, trucks and buses and has good potential growth as an alternative and environmentally friendly fuel source for vehicles. This job involves the carrying out of diagnostic procedures, repair, servicing and installing of natural gas fuel systems and repair and servicing of emission control systems. Within these activities, fabrication of components and welding, soldering and thermal cutting and heating procedures are carried out.

Qualification: Certificate II in Automotive (Mechanical - Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Services)

Requirements:

To be awarded the qualification, the New Apprentice must attain a successful assessment of all 4 compulsory core competency standards, all of the listed stream competency standards, plus 3 elective standards from the automotive 'bank' or any endorsed Industry Training Package at the same AQF Level.

Duration:

This competency based program is likely to extend over a period of up to 12 months, depending on the achievement of the required competencies (this period may vary between States/Territories).
