Job Description:

This job involves the removal, replacement or repair of defective exhaust systems or parts on vehicles. Specifically, it will require the repair or replacement of exhaust systems by removing the manifold, exhaust piping, muffler box or tail pipe as necessary. Fabrication of the system or components may be necessary for modification purposes. Component parts are secured through bolts, clamps, tacks or welds whilst the fitting of the system is aligned and secured by bolt hangers.

Qualification: Certificate II in Automotive (Mechanical - Exhaust Fitting & Repair)

Requirements:

To be awarded the qualification, the New Apprentice must attain a successful assessment of all 4 compulsory core competency standards, all of the listed stream competency standards, plus 3 elective standards from the automotive 'bank' or any endorsed Industry Training Package at the same AQF Level.

Duration:

This competency based program is likely to extend over a period of up to 12 months, depending on the achievement of the required competencies (this period may vary between States/Territories).
